For those who is also interested in our culture, let me explain it. Family is almost the most important for us and majority Chinese put family first. Why I spoke almost, because the young generation are more westernized. We often said, the marriage in China is between two families not two loved persons. If the man or the woman was not accepted by the family of the other side, it would be very difficult. He or she would perhaps fight for his or her love but will give it up very soon because it's a hard journey and you don't have support from anyone.

About Chinese new rich guy… they generally have famous oversea education diploma，after graduation they probably go back to Shanghai/Beijing and work in big name company for years like Big four or consulting company like MBB or Investment bank companies then began their own business or take off their family ones. About their girlfiend，take an example for my cousin，he literally change girls as frequent as he do his haircut，but for those kind of girls he will never take back to see his parents，those girls always available when he drops a call or message so he never get bored，he may get in touch with several girls like this，dinner/shopping/travel/get laid/informal event etc. As to his formal girlfriend，some are introduced by his parents or relatives some they met themselves，the common points are those girls generally also have top-tier oversea education diploma，they may not look as pretty as prior type girls are，but they must come from a good family （that is wealthy or with power in local city/province government）. My cousin’s parents only accept this kind of girls and would like to visit girls parents with Maotai（the best wine in China）in a high end restaurant，or even share business resources with the girls family for mutual benefits and further relationship. But, I am a Middle Eastern Muslim Woman and I am telling you that most of what other cultures think of our men and women are not true! Actually, Arab men do tend to like the Western mentality and many ladies did get Arab and Gulf Princes and Kings.. Yes, as an ethnic Chinese (not from China), what you’re saying about rich Chinese men is absolutely true, provided, if the guy is extremely rich and he can maintain his various households without any financial problem, plus, his main wife is still the main wife (not divorced) and his eldest son is still the one who’s gonna inherit a major part of his business. Usually the children of mistresses don’t get to inherit/get involved in the main business of the family. They would need to go out and start a business of their own, away from the family business. The emperor of China doesn’t have 5000 concubines in their harem for no reasons. Buddhism/Taoism doesn’t prohibit polygamy, in fact, Taoism encourages it. China last dynasty ended a little over 100 years ago. The same goes for Arabs, they constantly have mistresses/“pleasure wives”/girl friends irregardless if they’re married/unmarried. However, the difference between Arab/Chinese, is that Chinese guys tend to be a lot easier to get emotionally attached to some of the girls they have flings with, and these girls end up as mistresses with monthly income+house+car+children which are recognized by their fathers. On the other hand, the Arabs usually toss away all the girls that they’re done with, rarely any of these girls become their 3rd/4th wives (Muslims are allowed to have 4 wives at any one time).

There have been numerous television programs and stories on the internet about how most men’s families are not allowing them to marry outside of Islam, or to even marry a Muslim convert. Most Muslim converts in America, Europe, and elsewhere do not find husbands and must spend the rest of their lives alone and be childless. The most these converts could ever hope for would be to become the illegal/unrecognized second wife of a man. Since polygamy is illegal she gets none of the advantages, legally or otherwise of being a wife. So, she “marries” a man as his second wife and gets nothing in return for this marriage. She’s basically being taken advantage of and used in this situation. Doesn’t sound like much of a life to me. The Muslim convert women who remained unmarried seemed so unhappy and miserable. I feel sorry for them. This problem with the family was consistent regardless of what country the man’s family originated from. So even though the religion “allows” it, there’s basically no chance of it happening. Honestly, it’s one of the MAJOR reasons why Islam will not spread in the West amongst Western people. The Islamic population will only increase in Western countries as a result of immigration. But Western people (especially women) won’t see a point in converting to a religion that will only make having a good future difficult for them.

I went to Paris after finishing university undergrad, to explore the art and city... Exchanged a room for a few hrs per day looking after her young daughter. One day the mother shyly asked me if I would mind going through hunting and fishing magazine personal classifieds, and circle each one where the man's income was over a certain amount! As a naive small town Canadian I was horrified at what I thought was extremely uncouth behavior but now as an older woman I think it was a discreet way of dealing with an important subject..
