Did anyone excess that sheet?

Besides Aritzia and Zara, does anyone have other stores that sell inexpensive (not designer prices...like no more than $200 for a pair of high quality pants, or a high quality top, or a pair of shoes/boots). I'm looking for something more stylish than Zara or Aritzia as those stores aren't my style. I like tailored items and wondering what other stores are out there. I live in a small town of 100k ppl in Canada and we are the biggest city in our area lol so there is not as much affluence here. It's mostly fishing/hunting/snow moblieing/camping.

This may be controversial but my go to luxury items are vintage suedes, leathers and furs. I love thrifting because you can find quality that is timeless. I mix in fast fashion when I need to fill that clothing niche asap. Invest in pieces you'll keep forever, and then fill in the rest as your mood, resources or needs dictate. Tailor it if you love it, shop out of season 👌

I cannot express how much I love the fact that you kept repeating, repeating, repeating to only buy what you need, buy classic shapes, and buy as an investment to use for years to come. I probably counted this theme repeated about 10 times and it cannot be stressed enough. I was born dirt floor poor so shopping at Goodwill was where it was at for me. The first time I made an effort to mature my wardrobe I purchased a classic peacoat from Target on sale. It actually fit me (I'm petite) so despite the cost compared to Goodwill I snapped it up! 10 years later I have shed every single one of my Goodwill items and replaced them with second-hand Eddie Bauer or Niman Marcus or whatnot. Turns out even rich people donate their clothing and all of these items seem to land up at second-hand boutiques for higher-end fashions. My wardrobe had shrunk to about 10 shirts, 5 pants, 3 dresses, and assorted accessories but each and every single one of these items fits, looks great, and is my color palette. And, I still have that peacoat from Target. It's actually now the lowest-priced item in my closet despite lasting so long!

Buying clothes in the colours that suit one is easier said than done. By and large we are sold clothes in the colours the designers decree. If they do not suit you, hard luck.

Anna dear can we be realistic? On a budget doesn’t equal shopping from a place where a single piece of garment costs 300$+ (like saks). You make it seem like we either have to shop from those places or we’re tacky. Young people like myself who are not born into a big fortune are either in school or climbing the first steps of their career ladder. We cannot spend 2$ K in a single shopping trip. I have to tell you that thanks to your cheat sheet, I’m able to pick the best pieces from online stores that offer a wide range of affordable items. I still can pull off a very chic outfit.

To jump to the top from the bottom is crazy transformation, it takes a crazy amount of money, efforts, and the right mindset. We don't have time to care about those who don't want to take their life to the next level but they want to judge.

I have been going with my colors for a long time. You can wear any color, just not any hue. I am a winter but a girl did my colors one time and said I was spring. I looked at those colors and did not really feel pulled towards them like I did the winter so I stayed with the winter shades. I do put colors up to my face to check what washes me out or makes me look sick. I can usually tell from that however the lighting in the store oftentimes does not show the true shade on me. I know what kind of top look best on me and what kind of bottoms look good on me. I've done the research so I feel like I've got a good handle on that. The skinny jeans have completely thrown styling and big butted women off track. I do not like looking like a diamond shape. I prefer straight legged pants or wide. A person can really get sidetracked if you don't have an idea of what you need. I have used the mantra of if it doesn't spark joy, don't buy it. Really think about what you are getting. Are you going to wear it? Does it really fit well or sort of fit. I tried on some pants yesterday and although I liked them, they did not fit that well and the sale was not worth it to me to buy something I wasn't crazy about. If you know what size you are in a certain brand, you can shop with confidence online but if you aren't sure, maybe going to the store would be the answer. One needs to look at the sizing of the piece and know if it is something that would fit. You just have to try it on. That's the thing.

Always shop high end on sale. You will be surprised. I get cashmere sweaters and silk shirts and next to nothing!

High end high street is the best. E.g. Karen Millen, whistles, mint velvet. There's a department store in the UK called John Lewis it sells the best high street, designer and high end high street fashion.

I don't know what kind of friends she has, but all of my friends are very vocal when it comes to style. I once had a friend buy a new phone, because I refused to change my old one (i really liked the phone). I told them if they wanted me to get a new one, they could go and buy it. I didn't think they would do it. Next thing I know, I'm being scolded for continuing to use the old phone. lol Same happens with clothes. If we all look nice and someone is falling behind, we will take them shopping and help them. Said all that to say, get some honest friends that will put their money where their mouth is.

These shopping tips are so helpful! Do you have any adaptations to post-Covid shopping? I’m finding it so frustrating..even with my regular luxury online stores I’ve relied on for years! It’s not the same..I feel worried I will end up compromising on quality and have to replace these items and waste money. Any advice here? I’ve been trying to hold off but don’t feel as confident just making due with items (like clothes) for a long time! Usually there is a bit more time to decide on high quality items...and I like to mull it over until I’m sure it’s right. Now returns are much more difficult, and several times now item has sold out by the time I’ve found it and added it to my cart! Crazy.

The only two people I can shop with is my sister and my mom. Otherwise I always shop by myself
